How do we understand Inclusion?

* Inclusion is an attitude! Inclusion is never complete, never finished, and never closed. It’s an ever-changing process. So just get started!

* Mindfulness and attention are key to inclusion. Pay attention to your counterpart, address your needs and concerns, and find a good way to communicate with each other! Take the time to understand the individual needs of your counterpart.

* Inclusive language: Use non-violent communication and pay attention to your general language use! Emphasize the use of plain language!

* Establishing a healthy attitude towards work in the coworking space: Move away from pressure! Instead, enable goal-oriented and effective work and create opportunities for balance. Take time for yourself regularly!

* Accessibility and inclusive furniture: Provide height-adjustable tables to involve people with various disabilities “at” the table rather than “near” the table. Wheelchair users often cannot reach conventional tables. When developing inclusive furniture, always involve the target group.

* Terrain design & equipment: Pictograms and surface design (color, sound insulation, braille, and relief lettering) are helpful for orientation in the room – for everyone. It is important to follow the two-senses principle to include more target groups. This means that when designing inclusive measures, various perspectives should be represented.

* Accessible websites: Target group-oriented design (contrasts for visually impaired people, plain language, sign language, read-aloud function, etc.)
